Veteran comic actor Woli Agba has appealed to Nigerian youths to desist from ongoing criticism of colleague Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, and his wife.
The plea comes after the couple announced the birth of their first child, reigniting public debate over Baba Ijesha’s 2022 conviction for sexual assault of a minor.
Baba Ijesha was sentenced in July 2022 but released in November 2025 after serving his term. Recent family news has drawn mixed reactions online, with some condemning the development while others argue he has paid his dues.
In a widely shared statement, Woli Agba said, “Nigerian Youth, leave Baba Ijesha and his wife alone. Let’s focus on the insecurity issues in the country.”
The comedian emphasised redirecting energy towards national challenges, including the plight of kidnapped school children and broader security concerns affecting citizens.
His comments reflect growing frustration among some entertainers over what they see as disproportionate focus on personal matters amid pressing socio-economic issues.
Baba Ijesha has maintained his innocence in past interviews, claiming he was set up. The case, which involved accusations from comedienne Princess regarding her foster daughter, remains a sensitive topic in Nollywood circles.
Reactions on social media remain divided, with some supporting Woli Agba’s call for priorities while others insist accountability for serious offences should persist.
