Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has firmly denied any involvement in promoting insecurity across Nigeria. The controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric made the declaration in a recent statement.

"I don’t do anything to promote insecurity in Nigeria," Gumi asserted. He insisted he has no links with bandits and acts only as a peaceful citizen seeking solutions.

The statement comes after reports of his name appearing flagged during a trip to Saudi Arabia. Gumi claimed Saudi authorities found no issues with him after investigation. He said they simply asked him to return home due to a visa glitch.

Gumi has long faced accusations of sympathizing with bandits. Critics point to his repeated calls for dialogue and amnesty for armed groups terrorizing the northwest. Many blame his advocacy for emboldening criminals who kidnap, kill, and displace thousands.

In past interviews, he described bandits as "our warriors in the bushes" and pushed for negotiations over military action. Such positions have drawn sharp condemnation. Nigerians accuse him of undermining security efforts while victims continue to suffer.

Recent online reactions reflect deep public frustration. Many view his latest denial as damage control amid mounting scrutiny. Some demanded his arrest, labeling him a terrorist advocate with a history of controversial remarks.

Gumi has also alleged U.S. intelligence fuels banditry and criticized Nigeria's intelligence as mostly "garbage." He maintains his engagements with outlaws always involved government and police officials. Yet skepticism persists.

His fresh plea for amnesty, similar to Boko Haram repentants, has reignited debate. Opponents argue it rewards murderers instead of delivering justice to grieving families.

As insecurity lingers in states like Zamfara and Sokoto, Gumi's role remains polarizing. His denials fail to quell accusations that his words have contributed to the crisis rather than resolved it. Nigerians demand accountability from all sides.
