Actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has stirred fresh controversy in the unresolved death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. He demands that authorities reinvestigate the late musician’s wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba.
Fabiyi made the call in recent statements, citing new evidence including alleged WhatsApp chats. These purportedly show Omowunmi expressing regret over pushing her husband, with phrases like “I regret pushing my husband. If the truth comes out, my life is finished.”
The actor insists this aligns with prior claims. He referenced a 30-second video and statements suggesting Mohbad was pushed, hit his head, and died at home.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023. Initial probes pointed to medical negligence by an unlicensed nurse. Yet persistent questions and family tensions have kept the case alive.
Fabiyi, through his Break the Silence Foundation, has pushed hard for justice. He claims a reinvestigation by the FCID in Abuja led to Omowunmi’s arrest in November 2025. She faced questioning over murder, theft, conspiracy, and evidence concealment before release.
In a pointed interview, Fabiyi stated, “This is a murder case, and I expect the authorities to treat it with the seriousness it deserves.” He urged forensic analysis of phones to verify chats and recover deleted messages.
He added that a prosecution witness provided details matching the alleged domestic violence. Fabiyi challenged skeptics: submit devices for verification instead of dismissing claims online.
Controversies swirl around the family. Fabiyi has alleged ritualistic acts at burial, claiming Omowunmi threw white cloth and fetish substances as the casket lowered. He views this as suspicious behavior.
Tensions with Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, over DNA tests, properties, and royalties have fueled public drama. Omowunmi has denied wrongdoing, insisting she never opposed DNA and faced bullying.
Fabiyi has accused past police leadership of cover-ups and shielding suspects against presidential directives. He appealed to current authorities for arrests of remaining individuals.
