Nigerian influencer Ola of Lagos has cancelled his Europe tour following the theft of €9,000 from him during his travels. The content creator shared his ordeal on Instagram, expressing shock at the incident.
In his post, Ola revealed he discovered the robbery after visiting four countries in one day. He described enduring multiple flights and trains amid significant stress.
"Europe Tour cancelled... I just discovered I've been robbed...9000 Euros (14 million Naira plus)," he wrote. Ola praised the thief's skill, noting the incident occurred even in a business class train.
"But man, whoever robbed me is smart and fast...I clapped," he continued. "Even in Business class train, big man dey rob.... I give it to Europe."
Ola reflected on the loss with a mix of humour and resignation. He mentioned plans to visit Spain and possibly other countries before returning to Nigeria. "But mhaaaan, whoever Rob is a boss. Hands up," he added.
The influencer highlighted a friend's similar experience. "My friend just told me he got robbed at gunpoint - €100k, Cartier jewelry, and more. Mine was just €9k lol. No gun, no pressure, just some smart guy I think."
He issued a direct warning to fellow travellers. "If you’re traveling anywhere in Europe, please go in a group. Some people should watch out for others, some should keep an eye on the bags. Move as a team."
Ola emphasised vigilance regardless of location. "Sha, don't let them kill you and don't ever think you can't be robbed in a big man's area. Lastly, move in group. Bye."
The posts, made within the past day, quickly gained attention online. Reactions on X (formerly Twitter) echoed his caution, with users sharing the screenshots and discussing safety in Europe.
Ola's experience adds to reports of thefts targeting visitors in various European cities. Similar incidents involving Nigerian celebrities have surfaced in recent years, including high-value robberies in tourist spots.
Despite the setback, Ola maintained a light tone. He acknowledged the challenges of travel but advised collective awareness. "Lagos dey learn for Europe side, I confirm am."
The influencer has not provided further details on the exact location or circumstances of the theft. Authorities in the affected areas typically urge victims to report such crimes promptly for investigation.
This event underscores broader concerns about personal security for international travellers. Ola's candid account serves as a timely reminder for those planning trips abroad.
As of now, Ola has not announced alternative plans following the cancellation. His followers continue to engage with the posts, offering support and sharing their own travel tips.
