In the early hours of Monday night, popular Nigerian streamer Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, along with content creators Ojo, Smart BM, and Jo Blaq, encountered real police officers while dressed in Nigeria Police Force uniforms.
The group was inside Peller’s car conducting a comedic “manhunt” for internet scammers as part of a live Twitch stream. They had donned full police attire, complete with badges and caps, for the patrol concept in Lagos.
Real officers at a checkpoint stopped the vehicle, ordering the driver out. Tension escalated as the policemen warned that statements could be used in court, prompting concern among the creators.
Peller reportedly stood his ground initially, insisting on his right to record the interaction. The situation de-escalated after controversial figure Sam Larry called Peller on video, speaking directly with the officers to resolve the matter.
No arrests were made during the encounter. The stream continued to draw significant viewership, blending entertainment with unexpected real-life drama.
Social media reactions poured in swiftly. Many viewers found the clip humorous, with comments highlighting the creators' quick thinking. Others expressed worry over the risks of impersonating law enforcement, even for content.
Nigeria has strict laws against police impersonation, which often spark public debates on content boundaries. This incident adds to ongoing conversations about creator safety and responsible entertainment in high-risk scenarios.
Peller has built a large following through bold, live-streamed antics. His collaborations with Ojo, Smart BM, and Jo Blaq frequently generate viral moments, though they occasionally cross into unpredictable territory.
Sam Larry’s timely intervention drew mixed responses online. Some praised the quick resolution, while others questioned the nature of such associations in the public eye.
The video clips from the stream have circulated widely on platforms like X and Instagram. Fans described the moment as “wahala sup” but ultimately light-hearted once resolved.
Authorities have not issued an official statement on the event as of the latest reports. The creators are expected to address the incident in follow-up content.
