Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usman Nuhu and four other police officers pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to charges linked to the death of 28-year-old musician Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as OG Million.

The officers appeared before Justice M. Nduka at the Delta State High Court 4, Asaba Judicial Division. The case stems from an incident on April 26 in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

Nuhu faces a one-count charge of murder. His co-defendants — ASPs Owoloko Daurou Pamo and Okoh Kelechi, and Inspectors Goodluck Kingsley and Omonigho Ahweyevu — are charged with negligent acts causing harm.

Reports indicate Ogidi was restrained on the ground and shot at close range by Nuhu in the presence of the other officers. A viral video of the event circulated widely, sparking public outrage.

Ogidi, a local rapper and delivery worker, had been sent to collect a package later found to contain a pistol and ammunition. He reportedly pleaded for his life, insisting he knew nothing of its contents and offering to lead officers to the sender.

The Nigeria Police Force swiftly dismissed the officers following internal investigations. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu described the actions as unlawful and a betrayal of duty, in violation of Force Order 237.

Public reactions on social media reflected widespread calls for accountability. Many Nigerians cited the video evidence as demanding justice for the slain musician.

The family of the deceased has previously expressed a desire for maximum justice. They stressed that dismissal alone was insufficient and sought full prosecution.

Following the not guilty pleas, Justice Nduka adjourned the matter to July 14 for the commencement of trial. The proceedings continue to draw attention across the country.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about police conduct and the pursuit of due process in high-profile incidents. Both prosecution and defence are expected to present their cases as the trial unfolds.
