Speed Darlington has shared his reasons for focusing on life in Nigeria rather than pursuing wealth in dollars abroad.
In a recent video, the controversial singer stated he prefers being a big man in naira now. He noted the challenges of building dollar success overseas.
“I’d rather enjoy being a big man in naira now while I still have the strength to lift a woman onto my shoulders,” he said.
Darlington reflected on his 23 years in the United States. He described gaining mostly criminal records, arrests, and emotional strain instead of financial success or the American Dream.
He built his mansion, including features like a swimming pool, with earnings from Nigeria. Opportunities such as his clash with Portable helped complete the project.
The entertainer stressed that American society did not favour him as a Black man. He cited racism, accent-related insecurities, and feelings of being caged despite being in the centre of opportunities.
Darlington says he values the respect and freedom he finds in Nigeria. He can visit the US briefly to see family but prefers returning home.
