The glittering marriage between Nollywood star Regina Daniels and billionaire senator Ned Nwoko has imploded into Nigeria’s most talked-about scandal of 2025.
It started with a tearful Instagram video on October 18. Regina, 25, announced she was leaving the mansion, saying she felt “like nothing” and could no longer endure “too much violence.”
Ned struck back the next day. The 63-year-old lawmaker blamed the collapse on Regina’s alleged drug and alcohol addiction, claiming she refused rehab and that her siblings and friends enabled her.
He listed lavish gifts, five mansions, global trips, ₦125 million to her mother - to show he had been generous, not abusive.
But Regina’s circle fought back. Her brother Sammy was arrested in late October, an action Regina called a power play to isolate her.
Then came her November 5 bombshell. In leaked notes, she admitted using drugs but said Ned encouraged it because she was “sexier” when high.
She accused him of forcing himself on her, locking her up, and seizing her phones when she tried to leave.
The real shock: “I trusted you with my sextape… which I pray never sees the light.” She fears he’ll leak it as revenge.
She also revealed they were never legally married, no documents were signed in 2019 when she was 17.
The age gap - 42 years, sparked fresh outrage. Activists demanded probes into underage marriage, especially since Ned is a UK-registered lawyer.
On November 9, Regina vowed to fight in court for her two young sons, accusing Ned of paying blogs to smear her and even molesting his own daughters.
Ned responded on November 10, insisting rehab is the only path “for our children” and denying all abuse.
X is exploding. #ReginaVsNed trends with thousands of posts, some call Ned a predator, others say Regina bit the hand that fed her.
Feminist groups want police action. Rival politicians pile on. Even Ned’s alleged brother disowned him online.
From fairy-tale wedding to public war, this scandal exposes money, power, and control in elite Nigerian unions.
Courts loom. Leaks threaten. And two little boys are caught in the crossfire.
Nigeria can’t look away.
