Kisitu Kirabo, the popular Ugandan-Rwandan social media influencer known as the Kabasto Queen, has become the center of a major privacy scandal after private intimate videos and photos surfaced online.
The content, including explicit self-recorded clips, spread rapidly on WhatsApp, TikTok, X, and other platforms starting around June 8, 2026.
Kirabo initially suggested some images might be AI-generated. She later issued a full public statement on Monday night, taking responsibility.
"To everyone who has seen or been affected by the recent unauthorized release of my private images, I am deeply sorry," she wrote. "These photos were taken and shared in confidence and were never meant for public view."
Their leak caused "hurt, embarrassment, and distress" to her, family, and friends. She described it as a profound invasion of privacy.
Kirabo confirmed she is cooperating with authorities under Uganda's Computer Misuse Act, which targets unauthorized sharing of intimate material. She has no official X account and urged supporters to ignore fake profiles.
She appealed directly to human decency: stop viewing and sharing. "What if she was your sister?" echoed in many online reactions pleading for restraint.
Public response has been mixed. Some expressed empathy and criticized the non-consensual distribution. Others turned it into memes and continued circulating the material, with claims of multi-minute clips featuring explicit acts.
The incident has "united Ugandans" in discussion, as one post noted, but also exposed ongoing challenges with digital consent in the region. It draws parallels to past leaks involving other local influencers.
Kirabo rose to fame through bold body-positive dances, fashion, and lifestyle content. Her curvy figure and confident presence built a large following across East Africa.
Prior to this, she faced criticism over alleged BBL surgery but remained outspoken about body confidence. No other major scandals match the scale of this current breach.
As she focuses on her well-being, the case highlights risks influencers face in sharing private moments. Legal action may follow against those responsible for the distribution.
