Pastor Odumeje, the popular Anambra-based cleric known for his outspoken views, has sparked fresh debate with sharp criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
In a recent church service, the pastor expressed confusion over public celebrations of the president. “I don’t understand why people are celebrating President Tinubu. Tell me one thing he has done for the average Nigerian since becoming president,” he stated.
Odumeje described Tinubu’s government as the worst in Nigeria’s history. He accused it of failing to deliver tangible benefits while the economy struggles.
The cleric claimed Nigerians remain too quiet despite hardships. He alleged that Tinubu operates more like a businessman than a president focused on national development.
“Your government are bragging when they have nothing they have offered to this nation,” Odumeje said in one address. He expressed disappointment in citizens for allowing continued suffering and rising costs.
President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. His administration has highlighted reforms like fuel subsidy removal, naira flotation, increased non-oil revenue, and student loan disbursements to millions.
Supporters point to infrastructure efforts, foreign investments, and social programmes reaching some households. Critics, however, cite persistent inflation, poverty, and insecurity affecting daily life.
The video of Odumeje’s remarks quickly spread on social media, drawing mixed reactions. Many users echoed his questions, while others defended the president’s long-term economic agenda.
Odumeje’s comments add to ongoing public discourse three years into the administration. They reflect deep divisions over governance priorities and the pace of visible relief for ordinary citizens.
