Stella Maris Okafor, widow of late Nollywood comedian John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has addressed allegations of mishandling his estate.
In a recent interview with content creator King Mitchy, she refuted claims that she sold properties alone and kept proceeds for herself and her children.
“This is a court order. We—I didn’t, not me alone. My husband’s two sons, Valentine Okafor and Daniel Okafor, and I did it according to the court order,” she stated.
Stella explained that one property in the village was sold for N17 million after consulting other children. The funds helped cover Mr Ibu’s burial expenses.
She noted that her late husband had children out of wedlock. The court reportedly shared some properties among family members.
The controversy escalated after Somtochukwu Okafor, one of Mr Ibu’s sons, accused her in a viral video. He claimed she sold a Lagos house for about N60 million, an Enugu property for N17 million, and one in Asaba for N11 million without involving all siblings.
Mr Ibu’s first wife also weighed in, describing Stella as the fifth wife and alleging sales occurred without broader family input.
Stella currently runs an online jewellery business. She said Mr Ibu had discouraged her from working while he was alive.
Recent public appeals for help with rent, utilities, and school fees drew over N7.5 million in donations, sparking further questions about the estate.
The family disputes highlight ongoing tensions over the late actor’s legacy. No independent verification of all claims has surfaced publicly.
Stella maintained that evidence of the court-backed processes exists and urged focus on facts rather than speculation. The situation continues to unfold amid public scrutiny on social media.
