In a recent address, he addressed rumours of potential arrest and threats to his life. Hamzat stated he remains committed to his ambition.
“They might arrest me and keep me away from the public. Whatever happens, I will never back down from contesting to become the governor of Oyo State and nobody will have the power to kill me,” he said.
He advised his supporters to keep their yellow uniforms for now. This measure aims to prevent any linkage to alleged evil plans, he explained.
The broadcaster, who is Executive Chairman of Agidigbo FM, declared his candidacy in January 2026 at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan. Large crowds attended the event.
Hamzat has denied links to a suspect arrested in a recent Oyo robbery raid. He described the allegations as a smear campaign.
In related statements, he claimed knowledge of plots to plant hard drugs at his radio station and demolish it. He also referenced past invitations to the Force CID in Lagos.
