Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army. He completed 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and earned the rank of Specialist.

The announcement came via his Instagram page on Friday. Momodu described the rigorous process in a lengthy post.

“I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote. He highlighted tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain, and scorching sun.

Momodu noted moments of doubt. He questioned himself but kept sight of the finish line.

“We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt,” the post continued. He spent ten weeks incommunicado, learning to find comfort in discomfort.

On April 12, he enlisted. This date marked 20 years since his late father’s passing.

He picked up the baton from his father, a Nigerian Police Force officer. Momodu carried the legacy forward by joining the US Army.

Today, it is official: Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu, United States Army. He serves with 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

He dedicated the achievement first to God for grace to pass his ASVAB on the first attempt. He thanked his late father and family from the Ayuele Clan in Edo State.

Momodu also appreciated his social media manager and the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California. He ended with “This chapter is written. The next one begins now.”

The news has drawn mixed reactions online. Many congratulated him on the career shift after over a decade in Nollywood.

Some social media users questioned his choice of the US Army over Nigeria’s. Discussions focused on benefits and opportunities abroad.

No major controversies have emerged. Reactions remain largely positive, with fans praising his dedication and discipline.

Momodu’s move highlights a personal transition. It reflects commitment to merit-based achievements and family legacy.

The actor shared photos in camouflage and dress uniform. His post has circulated widely on platforms like X and Instagram.
