Nafisat Feenah Hammed, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya, has publicly addressed the end of their marriage. In a viral video shared on June 24, she responded to circulating claims about their separation.
The couple wed on June 29, 2025, in Ibadan. Reports indicate the union lasted only a few months before issues arose.
Olaiya earlier released a dissolution letter. He stated that Nafisat left their matrimonial home without notice after declining to attend an event with him in Lagos.
"Based on her decision and continuous refusal to return or reconcile, I hereby declare that Nafisat Feenah Hammed is no longer my wife," the letter read. He mentioned attempts to involve her family for mediation.
In her response, Nafisat countered the narrative. "Last three months ago, I left my marriage because I'm pained, I'm mistreated, and I feel like I did not matter," she said.
She added that no one should stay "in a marital home that goes with violence." Nafisat confirmed the couple had been apart for a long time since last year.
The actress noted cultural reluctance to expose marital matters publicly. However, she felt compelled to clarify assumptions about her departure.
Nafisat further alleged betrayal. She claimed Olaiya married her best friend, who served as a bridesmaid at their wedding.
