The family of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, is embroiled in fresh public controversy.

His widow, Stella Maris Okafor, recently appealed for financial assistance alongside her children.

The plea, shared in a video with influencer King Mitchy, highlighted struggles with rent, school fees, and utilities.

It quickly drew strong reactions from other family members.

Somtochukwu Okafor, identifying as the third son and fourth child, released a viral video.

“My father left a lot of properties for his children but his wife chose to take everything for herself and her children,” he stated.

He alleged the sale of a Lagos house for ₦60 million without consulting siblings.

Somtochukwu added that an Enugu property fetched about ₦17 million, with him receiving only ₦40,000.

A property in Asaba was reportedly sold for ₦11 million.

He also referenced over ₦66 million donated during his father’s illness.

Stella Maris responded in a follow-up interview.

She maintained she did not act alone in any property transactions.

Some of the late actor’s sons were involved, according to her.

The Enugu land sale, she explained, helped cover burial expenses.

“So many lies have been fabricated against me,” Stella said.

She noted that her late husband had not fully disclosed prior marriages and children.

“When I married my husband, he didn’t tell me he has been married before,” she added.

The first wife has also weighed in publicly.

She accused Stella of selling Enugu and Lagos properties and mismanaging illness donations.

Claims include the arrest of Stella’s son and adopted daughter over funds.

Stella has countered that a court divided the estate, granting her one-third share.

Nollywood actor Fred Ebere questioned the appeal.

He urged accountability for properties and investments left behind.

Public reactions on social media reflect concern over the family’s fractured legacy.

Many call for mediation to protect all children involved.

Mr Ibu died in March 2024 after a prolonged illness.

The ongoing dispute continues to spark debate about estate management in complex families.

Donations totaling around ₦7.5 million reached Stella following her appeal.

Both sides maintain their positions as the conversation persists online.
