"5 years later after much thought and reflection, we believe it is best for us to part ways due to irreconcilable differences," the statement read.
"While this wasn’t an easy decision, we feel it is the right one for both of us."

They emphasized the absence of bitterness. "There is no anger or resentment, sometimes two people simply grow in different directions."

The couple went public with their relationship around 2021. They held a private nikah ceremony in South Africa in April 2023, followed by a grand white wedding later that year.
Their union featured prominently on the Netflix reality series Young, Famous & African. Zari, known as Zari the Boss Lady, is a businesswoman and mother of five from a previous relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz. Shakib, a businessman, is about 14 years her junior.
