WAEC Releases 2025 WASSCE Results for School Candidates
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates across Nigeria.
This was announced on Monday by the Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut, during a press briefing at the council’s headquarters in Lagos.
According to WAEC, over 1.6 million candidates participated in the examination held between May and June 2025. Out of this number, approximately 76.34% obtained credit passes and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics , the two core requirements for tertiary admission. This reflects a slight improvement from the 75.10% recorded in 2024.
Dr. Dangut noted that the successful release of the results was due to the smooth administration of the exams and the cooperation of all stakeholders. However, the results of about 55,000 candidates are being withheld due to suspected cases of examination malpractice, which are currently under investigation.
Candidates can now check their results online via the official WAEC result-checking portal at www.waecdirect.org using their examination number and result checker PIN. WAEC cautioned the public against using unofficial platforms or engaging with fraudsters who claim to offer result upgrades.
The council praised principals, supervisors, invigilators, and various education ministries for their contributions to a hitch-free examination process.
With the release of the 2025 results, thousands of students are now set to proceed with their university admission processes and other post-secondary education plans.
