Popular Nollywood actor Bolanle Ninalowo has reacted strongly to reports that a fraudster, posing as him, allegedly defrauded a woman of N33 million. The shocking case has left fans stunned and raised concerns about the growing menace of impersonation and online scams targeting unsuspecting victims.
According to reports, the woman believed she was in direct contact with Ninalowo and was persuaded into parting with millions of naira. It was only after she became suspicious that she realized she had fallen victim to a fraudster who had been impersonating the actor online.
Responding to the incident on social media, Ninalowo distanced himself completely from the fraudulent act, stressing that he had no connection whatsoever with the scam. With visible disbelief, he remarked that the claimed amount was unrealistic, stating, “Even Nollywood hasn’t paid me such an amount per film.”
The actor went on to warn his fans and the general public to remain vigilant against online fraudsters who often exploit celebrities’ names and images to deceive vulnerable people. He emphasized that he would never reach out privately to solicit money from anyone and urged people to verify any suspicious interactions before making financial commitments.

Meanwhile, the victim has formally petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seeking justice and demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. The EFCC is expected to track down the impersonator and bring them to face the law, given the seriousness of the case and the huge financial loss involved.
The incident has reignited public discourse on the increasing prevalence of impersonation scams in Nigeria, especially those involving celebrities, politicians, and public figures. Many fans have expressed sympathy for the victim while also applauding Ninalowo for speaking out swiftly to clear his name and raise awareness.
Bolanle Ninalowo, popularly known as “Makanaki,” has built a reputation in Nollywood for his talent, charisma, and professionalism. While the scam has caused distress, his reaction highlighted his transparency and commitment to protecting his fans from being exploited in his name.
Authorities continue to advise Nigerians to be cautious, double-check identities, and report suspicious activities. As investigations proceed, the case serves as a reminder of the dangers of online fraud and the importance of vigilance in the digital age.
