Popular TikToker Fati Cele has been detained by the Kano State Police Command. This follows the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence in Danbare, Kumbotso Local Government Area.
Makaye, a cosmetics trader from Hotoro Tishama, was found with burn injuries and traces of blood. Neighbors responded to Cele’s alarm about a fire and rushed him to Nassarawa Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Police officers from Dorayi Babba Division took Cele into custody. The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the detention via WhatsApp on Saturday. He stated that investigations were ongoing.
The couple had been in a relationship for over two years. They reconciled after a period of separation following Makaye’s marriage. Associates noted past challenges in their relationship.
Makaye’s body was released to his family. He was buried on Friday at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki according to Islamic rites.
Social media reactions, particularly on X and TikTok, have called for a thorough probe. Users expressed concern over the mysterious circumstances and urged authorities to ensure justice. No official cause of death has been released yet.
