Nigerian TikTok sensation Peller has publicly responded to rapper Ycee following remarks made during a recent podcast appearance.
Ycee, whose real name is Oladapo Oluwaseyi Daniel, sparked controversy in a clip from The Afropolitan Podcast. He lamented what he described as an "olodo uprising" in Nigeria, pointing to a shift away from academic excellence toward viral stunts and social media fame.
The rapper highlighted concerns over crumbling schools, over 18 million out-of-school children, and lowered university cutoffs. He referenced the rise of "Peller culture" as an example of youths chasing quick fame through sensational online content rather than education.
Peller, known for his large TikTok following and live sessions, took to Instagram Stories to address the comments. In the post, he criticized unnamed celebrities for reposting the video.
"Some idiot celebrity wey I follow con dey repost the video etiyawerey," Peller wrote, accompanied by angry emojis. He urged respect for elders while questioning the need to mention names.
Peller added: "If u be elderly person respect yourself also must u mention name, u self nah illiterate because as an elder man that have sense u can talk without mentioning name." He repeated his frustration with reposts in the post.
Further responses from Peller accused Ycee's team of begging via DMs to use his sound for promotions. He stated, "Olodo Uprising, wey una Dey use money Dey Beg for DM make they use una Sound" and "The same olodo uprising wey una dey use promote una noise."
The exchange has ignited reactions across social media platforms. Some users supported Ycee's call for valuing education, while others defended Peller's success through digital content creation.
Discussions on X (formerly Twitter) reflect divided opinions, with fans debating multiple paths to success versus traditional education. Neither party has issued further official statements as the conversation continues online.
