Popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has dismissed reports of his arrest during a demonstration in Abuja.

The activist addressed his supporters on Saturday after leading a protest at Karu Bridge. The gathering focused on rising insecurity, banditry, and the kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oyo State.

"I was not arrested. I just left Karu Bridge in Abuja. We can all go home now, and I will inform Nigerians of the next protest location on another day," he stated.

In a longer message, VeryDarkMan explained his movements. He said he followed behind military personnel without being detained. He encouraged participants to rest and prepare for continued action.

"Go and rest, refresh yourself, rest properly. We bounce again. Bandits must go, terrorists must go, kidnappers must go," he added.

The protest highlighted the abduction of pupils and teachers from Oyo schools on May 15. Demonstrators demanded swift government intervention to rescue the victims still held in forests.

VeryDarkMan had earlier announced the Karu Bridge assembly. Protesters planned to march towards Nyanya, referencing a past bomb blast site. The demonstration remained largely peaceful despite heavy security presence.

Rumours of his arrest spread quickly on social media as the event unfolded. Many supporters expressed concern online before his clarification video circulated widely.

The activist stressed the need for sustained pressure. "It has been so long. Don't reach us. Go carry that party go meet them inside the bush," he said, urging action against criminals.

He reminded followers of their collective strength. "We have the numbers. We no go keep quiet. Make them pursue us come out from this country. No, we go go die. We go go carry the party go meet them for that bush," VeryDarkMan declared.

The protests form part of broader youth-led actions in Abuja. They address governance issues, economic challenges, and security failures under the current administration. Chants of "Tinubu must go" were heard alongside calls for better protection of citizens.

No major violence was reported at the Karu Bridge site. Roads were cleared by midday as participants heeded the call to disperse.

VeryDarkMan, who recently returned to Nigeria, has gained significant following through his Ratel Movement. His activism often targets high-profile issues, drawing both praise and criticism.

Supporters view his efforts as a voice for the voiceless. Critics question the timing and impact of street protests. The activist has promised to announce the next gathering soon.

As Nigerians continue to grapple with insecurity, such demonstrations reflect growing public frustration. Authorities have maintained a presence to ensure order during these events.

VeryDarkMan's latest statement aims to calm tensions while keeping momentum for the cause. Further developments are expected as he mobilises supporters for upcoming actions.
