Popular Nigerian actress and influencer Tomike Adeoye has once again reminded fans why she is loved, after turning a suspicious scam attempt into pure entertainment. Today, September 10, 2025, the mother of two shared a video clip of her encounter with a scammer who claimed to be working with the Lagos Waste Management Authority, popularly known as LAWMA.
The scammer introduced himself as someone who supposedly knew her from NYSC and bizarrely addressed her as “Debby.” He then went further, presenting what he called a multimillion-naira supply contract of hand sanitizers to 57 local governments. For anyone familiar with Nigeria’s endless scam stories, this was a red flag from the start.
Instead of cutting him off, Tomike decided to play along. In the clip, which has since gone viral on Instagram and across gossip blogs, she can be heard laughing in Yoruba, throwing in witty comebacks, and making the conman more uncomfortable by the second. Her decision to humor the caller left fans in stitches, with many calling it the “most hilarious scam exposure of the year.”

Tomike later admitted she found the conversation while clearing her phone and felt it was too funny to keep to herself. Sharing it online, she captioned: “Night crawlers laugh with me before you go to bed. Get you an interpreter if you don’t speak Yoruba.” The reaction was instant, as fans, celebrities, and even lifestyle bloggers reposted it across social media platforms like Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.
For Nigerians used to hearing about online fraud, Yahoo boys, and fake government contract scams, Tomike’s lighthearted handling of the situation struck a chord. Many praised her for exposing the tricks scammers use, while others loved the gossip-worthy entertainment value she brought.
This isn’t the first time a celebrity scam attempt has gone public, but Tomike Adeoye’s approach has definitely made it trend. The incident also sparked searches online for phrases like “Tomike Adeoye scam video,” “LAWMA fake contract scam,” and “Nigerian celebrity scam story,” showing how much people were eager to catch up on the gist.
At the end of the day, Tomike turned a potentially annoying experience into laughter for her fans, while reminding Nigerians to stay alert for fraudsters pushing fake government contracts. It’s one more reason the actress continues to be a relatable and trusted voice online.
