Unknown gunmen have abducted Rev. Dr. Samuel Gbinde, a pastor with the Nongo u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar (NKST) Church, along with two members of his congregation in Benue State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the pastor’s residence within the NKST Church compound in Andyar, Ishan Classis.
Armed men invaded the premises and whisked away the victims from the church area. No immediate details on the attackers’ identities or motives have emerged.
The NKST leadership confirmed the abduction in an official statement. They described the event as unfortunate.
Rev. Dr. T. A. Targba, the church’s General Secretary, signed the statement issued on Tuesday. The church extended sympathy to the affected families and the Andyar congregation.
NKST urged Christians and the public to pray for the safe and unconditional release of Rev. Gbinde and the two members. It also called on security agencies to act swiftly.
This latest incident adds to ongoing security challenges in parts of Benue State. Similar abductions have targeted religious figures and worshippers in recent times.
Residents in the area expressed concern over the vulnerability of church compounds. Local reports highlight fears of rising banditry and kidnapping activities.
Authorities are yet to issue a detailed response or confirm any rescue efforts. Investigations are expected to intensify in the coming days.
The NKST Church continues to monitor the situation closely. It appeals for calm while hoping for the victims’ prompt return.
