Nigerian singer Young Duu has publicly accused skit maker and streamer Carter Efe of ripping him off in their collaboration on the song Oyinmo.
In a recent statement, Young Duu said Carter Efe promised him 30 percent of royalties but delivered only 500,000 naira. He described the amount as far below expectations, claiming his share should have been around 30 million naira.
Young Duu further alleged that Carter Efe is “not a nice person at all.” He pointed to the treatment of a Yoruba boy associated with Carter Efe as evidence of bias.
“He’s not a nice person atall and you’ll know from the way he treats the Yoruba boy that’s with him all because he’s Yoruba. Carter Efe is very tribalistic too,” Young Duu stated.
The accusations stem from a long-running dispute. Their fallout traces back to late 2023 when Young Duu first claimed Carter Efe hijacked the song Oyinmo, performing it at shows without him.
Carter Efe has maintained he gave Young Duu 500k from two months of royalties and took 60 percent, urging gratitude. He has also denied exploiting the artist.
Recent tensions escalated in May and June 2026 during a livestream. Clips showed Carter Efe abruptly ending the session and asking Young Duu to leave the studio, sparking claims of disrespect.
Young Duu later displayed alleged injuries from the altercation and expressed disappointment, referencing past support he provided Carter Efe.
Social media reactions remain divided. Some users back Young Duu’s claims of unfair treatment, while others view the exchange as typical industry drama.
Neither party has issued a fresh official response to the latest allegations as of this report. The situation continues to generate conversations about artist management, financial transparency, and interpersonal dynamics in the entertainment scene.
Industry observers note such public disputes often highlight broader challenges faced by emerging talents in collaborations. Both artistes have built significant followings through music and content creation.
