Content creator King Mitchy recently brought children of the late Nollywood comedian John Okafor, known as Mr Ibu, to entertainer Carterefe’s studio.
This followed her financial assistance to the family. Mitchy and her foundation raised and disbursed N7.5 million to cover school fees, including WAEC for the eldest daughter, house rent, and other needs.
The children, previously out of school due to unpaid fees, joined the lively session. They displayed dance moves reminiscent of their father’s energetic style, entertaining viewers.
Mitchy had earlier visited the family and interviewed widow StellaMaris Okafor and some children. They spoke of hardships, including fetching water from wells and lacking electricity.
In the interview, the family appealed for public support. Mitchy expressed focus on ensuring the children received deserved help.
The donation came after widespread reactions to their situation. Nigerians responded generously to the call.
However, the family faces internal controversies. Some of Mr Ibu’s sons have accused the widow of mismanaging properties left by the actor. They claim sales of houses in Lagos and elsewhere without fair sharing.
StellaMaris has countered these claims, stating some proceeds supported burial expenses and denying sole control.
Public discourse on social media reflects divided opinions on the family’s finances and support efforts. Mitchy maintained neutrality, emphasizing child welfare.
The studio visit with Carterefe provided a moment of joy. It showcased the children’s talents and offered respite from challenges.
Observers noted the positive collaboration between Mitchy and Carterefe. It highlights community support in the entertainment industry.
The late Mr Ibu’s legacy continues to draw attention. His family’s situation remains under public scrutiny as they navigate life after his passing.
