Panic gripped shoppers on Ogoja Road, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, when EFCC operatives stormed a popular boutique in search of its owner over alleged multi-million naira fraud.
Eyewitnesses say the moment agents approached Madam Nneoma, she suddenly melted into a pool of clear water right before their eyes.
Her wrapper and blouse dropped to the floor in a heap, with water spreading across the shop and spilling outside.
“She was just arranging clothes one second, the next—water everywhere,” a shaken salesgirl told reporters. “We’ve always whispered she’s a water goddess. Now we know.”
Staff and customers screamed as stunned EFCC officers reportedly scrambled to scoop the mysterious liquid into containers as “evidence.”
Videos circulating online show the boutique flooded, with some blaming a burst drainage pipe from heavy rain, yet locals insist the timing was too perfect.
Madam Nneoma had long been rumored in the community to possess spiritual powers linked to water spirits, a belief common in parts of southeast Nigeria.
Traditionalists now claim she simply “returned to her realm” and could reappear anytime.
As of November 22, 2025, the EFCC has made no official statement on the bizarre incident or confirmed the exact raid date, which sources say happened earlier today.
Residents have turned the boutique into a makeshift shrine, pouring libations and praying for her return.
In a country where juju tales often clash with law enforcement, this one has everyone asking: fraud suspect—or true mammy water?
