Afrobeats fans are buzzing over Wizkid and Asake's surprise joint EP announcement, but a viral tearful plea from comedian Carter Efe has added unexpected drama.
During an Apple Music session earlier this month, Wizkid casually dropped the bomb: “Special announcement, 2025 Mr. Money and Big Wiz project. It’s called REAL, and it drops this December. For the people. Vol. 1.” Asake nodded along, later calling their bond “deeper than just making music.”
DJ Tunez quickly teased “Jogodo,” a track blending Asake’s Yoruba vibes with Wizkid’s smooth flow. Fans are already calling it a Detty December anthem, with whispers of a December 19 drop fueling the fire.
The duo’s chemistry isn’t new. they’ve delivered hits like “MMS” (Grammy-nominated) and “Bad Girl.” This EP feels like the real payoff.
But amid the excitement, comedian Carter Efe stole some spotlight in a raw livestream.
Visibly emotional, he poured out: “Wizkid sef na still my person but he no dey show love. I don try for you Wizkid, why your heart strong? You be winch?”
Carter, who claims years of supporting Wizkid, seemed heartbroken over the lack of reciprocation.
Fans are divided, some call it entitlement, others see the pain of unreturned loyalty in the industry.
No word yet from Wizkid’s camp.
As “REAL” gears up to dominate playlists, this side drama reminds us: even in Afrobeats’ glow-up, feelings run deep.
Will Carter get that shoutout? Or will the music drown out the noise?
One thing’s sure, this December just got more interesting.
