Nigerian Afrobeats artist Fido has announced an indefinite break from music. In a new X post on Thursday, the singer shared a message signaling the end of his current chapter.
"U na no go hear anything from me until further notice. This is where I stop," he wrote. He extended love to fans worldwide and prayed for his loved ones.
Fido, born Awosika Olayemi Josiah, rose to prominence with hits like "Awolowo," "Joy is Coming," and "Concur." The Bayelsa-born, Lagos-raised artist built his career from church choir roots.
The post has sparked reactions online, with many speculating on reasons behind the sudden decision. It arrives months after Fido issued public apologies for past missteps during his rapid ascent.
In February 2026, he admitted errors in handling stardom. This followed clashes with fanbases and disputes with his former label, Inner Circle Entertainment. He had accused them of withholding most of a $20,000 advance for "Awolowo."
Fido also faced criticism for downplaying the role of music marketers in his success. Industry voices called his remarks ungrateful. He later sought to mend ties.
His career featured both acclaim and controversy. Claims of earning nearly ₦1 billion in a month from music highlighted his commercial peak. Yet public spats, including comments involving rival superstar fan groups, drew backlash.
Fans express mixed emotions. Some offer support for his well-being, while others question the timing. The artist, who graduated from North American University Houdegbe, has not provided further details.
