Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has sparked controversy with a viral video in which she accuses Abia State Governor Alex Otti of mismanaging public funds and deceiving citizens with refurbished infrastructure projects. The actress, known for her outspoken views, echoed recent criticisms by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, claiming that Governor Otti has been repainting roads and projects originally constructed during Kalu’s tenure.
In the video, Ogala stated that much of what is being showcased as new development in Abia State is simply cosmetic work done on older structures. According to her, the governor has failed to deliver fresh, meaningful projects and is instead using state funds on surface-level upgrades for political gain.
Ogala described Orji Uzor Kalu as her “boss” and fully aligned herself with his remarks about the governor's performance. She suggested that the current administration’s achievements are being overstated and that public funds are not being utilized to genuinely improve the state’s infrastructure.
Governor Alex Otti, through his media team, responded swiftly to the allegations, dismissing them as distractions from individuals who do not speak for the majority of Abians. He maintained that his administration is focused on meaningful reforms and visible development projects aimed at transforming the state.
The controversy has drawn mixed reactions online. While some social media users praised Ogala for boldly speaking out, others criticized her comments as politically motivated and lacking in substance. Supporters of the governor argue that his efforts in road construction, urban renewal, and public sector transparency are clear and commendable.
This exchange highlights the growing role of public figures and celebrities in Nigeria’s political discourse, as well as the intensifying battles ahead of the 2027 elections.
