Babcock University has issued a strong public warning against forged academic certificates circulating online. The notice specifically addresses documents falsely attributed to the institution.

On June 29, the university highlighted fake "honorary" certificates claiming non-existent classifications. One such document names Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, known as Carter Efe.

The certificate in question, dated May 4, 2023, comes from the Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club. It recognizes "outstanding performance" and "First Class Upper" achievement.

Carter Efe had shared the document amid the "Olodo Uprising" trend. He claimed to have studied Biochemistry at Babcock and graduated as the best in his set with First Class Upper.

"I went to Babcock University. I study Bio chemistry. I came out with first class upper….. Best student in my set," he stated in related posts.

Babcock University unequivocally states the document is unauthorized. It does not emanate from the university.

The institution stressed it does not issue honorary certificates for undergraduate performance. Academic excellence is recognized only through official degree certificates and transcripts from the Registrar’s office.

"There is no academic classification or degree known to Babcock University as 'First Class Upper'," the public notice reads.

The university urged the public, employers, and institutions to disregard such documents. It encouraged verification through the Office of the Registrar.

Legal action is reportedly underway against those responsible for the forgeries. The notice warns of potential civil and criminal proceedings for forgery and fraud.

Social media reactions poured in swiftly after the alert. Many users questioned Carter Efe’s claims. "Babcock university don cast Carter efe," one post noted.

Others highlighted the mismatch. "Which one be first class upper?" another asked. Several called for further clarification from the content creator.

The development has sparked widespread discussion online. It underscores ongoing concerns about credential integrity in Nigeria.

Babcock University, a respected private institution, has previously issued similar fraud alerts. This latest notice aims to protect its academic reputation.

Carter Efe has not publicly responded to the university’s statement as of the latest updates. The story continues to generate conversations across platforms.
