The fallout between Ruger and his former label

Jonzing World (owned by D’Prince) became public in early 2024. While Ruger initially expressed gratitude for the platform the label gave him, he later detailed several grievances that led to his exit

Here are the specific reasons for the split based on Ruger's public statements

1. Lack of Further Growth

Ruger stated that the label had become "too comfortable" with the money they were making from him. He felt they were no longer pushing his brand or seeking new opportunities for his career growth. He mentioned that he was supposed to renegotiate his contract but could not imagine spending another five years without "action" or proactive support.

2. Diversion of Funds

One of the most serious allegations Ruger made was that the label was using the earnings generated from his music to fund the careers of new, up-and-coming artists on the label. He claimed he was being "left in the dark" regarding financial transparency while his hard work was financing other projects.

3. Allegations of Blacklisting

Following his departure and the launch of his own imprint Blown Boy Entertainment Ruger alleged that he was "blacklisted" within the Nigerian music industry. He noted that

Many people were unwilling to help him once he went independent.

He faced a stigma of being "ungrateful" for leaving the label that brought him to limelight.

Critics predicted his career would end quickly without "godfather" support.

4. Safety and Personal Tension

The split appeared to be quite tense. In his social media posts, Ruger alluded to fears of physical retaliation, jokingly (or perhaps seriously) stating that he had more to say but was afraid he might be stabbed on the Ikoyi Link Bridge if he spoke too much

Where they stand now (2026)

Ruger Is now operating fully under Blown Boy Entertainment He has since released his sophomore album BlownBoy RU (March 2025), and successfully embarked on several global tours as an independent artist.

Jonzing World Has not officially released a detailed counter-statement regarding Ruger's specific allegations of financial mismanagement, continuing to focus on its remaining and newer signees
