Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has firmly responded to recent allegations made by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, who accused him of mismanaging ?50 billion in public funds. The allegations, which have sparked considerable attention across political circles and the media, were described by Governor Makinde as baseless and politically motivated.
In a press statement released by his media team, Governor Makinde challenged Fayose to present concrete evidence to back his claims. He emphasized that his administration has maintained transparency and accountability in the management of public resources since assuming office.
Makinde also pointed out that his government has undergone multiple audits and financial reviews, all of which have shown a clean and responsible track record. He reiterated that public funds have been used judiciously for infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic development across the state.
“This is not the time for political distractions or propaganda. If Mr. Fayose has facts, let him present them to the appropriate authorities. Governance is a serious business, not a platform for baseless accusations,” the governor’s statement read.
The development has intensified political tensions in the Southwest, especially as preparations for future elections continue to shape political discourse. Citizens and political observers are now watching closely to see if Fayose will respond with evidence or retract his statement.
