Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has publicly expressed her frustration after repeated flight cancellations by a local airline disrupted the commencement of her ₦20 million movie project.
In a video shared online, Ogunmola revealed she was stranded at an airport in Ekiti State for over 24 hours. Her flight to Lagos, where her film production was set to begin, was delayed multiple times and eventually canceled without clear communication from the airline.
“I have actors on set, I booked restaurants, I booked everything,” she said emotionally. “I’ve spent over ₦15 to ₦20 million trying to produce this film, and everything is being wasted because of this delay.”
She explained that her production team, actors, and logistics had already assembled in Lagos, ready to begin filming. The unplanned delay not only caused financial strain but also disrupted the entire production schedule.
Ogunmola accused the airline of neglecting its passengers and failing to provide adequate information or support. She also mentioned her intention to pursue legal action, stating that the video she recorded would serve as evidence for her lawyers.
“This is not just inconvenience—it’s damage to people’s livelihoods,” she said. “You don’t just mess with people’s time and money like this.”
The incident has sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians echoing similar experiences and calling for better regulation and accountability in the aviation industry.
For Ogunmola, the experience highlights the broader challenges faced by creatives and entrepreneurs in Nigeria, where unreliable infrastructure can quickly derail months of hard work and investment.
