Renowned music producer ID Cabasa has voiced deep frustration over the rising wave of terrorism and banditry sweeping across Nigeria.
In a passionate statement, he lamented how Nigerians have grown accustomed to evil and constant bloodshed.
"Terrorism is eating us in Nigeria and it's so sad that we have gotten used to the darkness. We can't keep moving on like nothing happened," Cabasa declared.
His outburst comes days after gunmen attacked schools in Oyo State's Oriire area near Ogbomoso on May 15. They abducted dozens of pupils and teachers, beheading a mathematics instructor whose killing was filmed and shared online.
Parents now live in fear sending children to school. Cabasa highlighted how quick the nation shifts to trends and comic relief after each tragedy, likening it to frogs in boiling water.
He criticized the politicization, ethnicization, and religionization of these crises, which he says prevent unified action. The producer suggested the helplessness of authorities raises uncomfortable questions about possible complicity.
"These terror guys they are even the ones in government, the way it looks now," he added bluntly.
This marks a bold intervention by a major entertainment figure in a climate where many celebrities stay silent on national security failures. Reactions on X praise Cabasa for breaking the silence while others question if such calls will yield results.
Nigeria continues to battle Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandit groups across multiple states, with frequent abductions and attacks claiming lives regularly. Government responses often draw criticism for lacking concrete, sustained impact.
Cabasa's message underscores a growing public weariness with normalized insecurity and demands more than political rhetoric. Citizens with influence, he insists, must speak without fear.
