Nigerian socialite Cubana Chief Priest has publicly blamed Grammy winner Burna Boy for their high-profile fallout, claiming the singer attacked him unprovoked due to envy over his close bond with Davido.
In a recent interview on The Beat 99.9 FM, Chief Priest detailed their history. He said Burna Boy once performed at his events for payment, including a reported ₦1 million gig as a backup act.
“I was on my own and Burna came for me first,” he stated. “He went on his big platform and started tweeting things that are not genuine... the attack was straight to my wealth.”
The entrepreneur, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, accused Burna Boy of seeking to discredit his success. He linked the tension directly to his longstanding friendship with Davido, who he credits with opening his nightclubs and restaurants.
“David is always there for me,” Chief Priest said. He claimed Burna Boy felt entitled to his loyalty but grew resentful when it went to the “OBO” camp instead.
This is not their first clash. Earlier tensions saw Burna Boy label Chief Priest the “Owerri Rick Ross” amid accusations of questionable wealth displays. Chief Priest has since ventured into music, releasing tracks like one produced by Davido, partly to prove a point.
Social media reactions have been harsh. Many mocked Chief Priest’s claims as desperate attention-seeking, while others questioned why he keeps inserting himself into music rivalries despite Davido’s past warnings to stay out of Burna Boy-Wizkid dramas.
The nightlife kingpin insisted success breeds hate. Yet critics point to his pattern of public spats as self-inflicted drama that undermines his business empire. Neither Burna Boy nor Davido has responded to the latest interview.
Chief Priest’s move into music appears more like retaliation than passion, exposing fragile egos in Nigeria’s entertainment circle where old favors turn into bitter grudges.
