Nollywood actress Bambam has addressed the controversy surrounding her missing phone at the service of songs for late actor Alexx Ekubo.
The incident occurred on Wednesday at The Monarch Event Centre in Lagos.
Bambam clarified that her personal assistant did not steal the device. She handed the phone to her PA at the entrance due to the rowdy environment.
"Please stop dragging my PA. She didn’t steal it from me. The phone got stolen after the event," Bambam stated in a video.
She explained the theft happened while guests exchanged pleasantries and hugs after the ceremony. Attendees took selfies amid the emotional gathering.
Bambam noted she had used her phone inside the hall to post stories of ministers and Pastor Jerry's powerful messages.
"It wasn't only mine. My friend, another man, and Alex’s brother also lost their phones," she added.
The actress expressed sadness rather than anger. She questioned what would drive someone to steal at a memorial service.
Bambam reflected on Alexx Ekubo’s life and impact. She urged focus on the purpose of the gathering instead of the loss.
Netizens had speculated after videos showed her PA handling the phone. Some wrongly accused the assistant.
Bambam appealed for no misinformation online. She ended with prayers for peace and reflection on life’s brevity.
The service honoured Alexx Ekubo, who died in May from cancer. Many celebrities attended to pay tributes.
