Nigerian controversial street-pop star, Portable, has once again caused a stir online after rejecting a massive ₦100 million offer to face off in a boxing match with popular activist and social media personality, VeryDarkMan. In a fiery video that has since gone viral, the singer scoffed at the figure, calling it “small money” and boldly demanded a staggering ₦1 billion instead, claiming anything less would be an insult to his worth.

Portable, known for his raw energy and unpredictable public outbursts, didn’t hold back as he addressed the offer. According to him, ₦100 million is something his fans regularly dash him, and he won’t risk his life or reputation for such a figure. “₦100 million? That’s too small. My fans give me that. Let them bring ₦1 billion if they want me to fight,” he said while pacing back and forth in a live video, clearly agitated but confident.

The fight offer came on the heels of an ongoing social media feud between the Zazu crooner and VeryDarkMan, also known as VDM, whose real name is Martins Otse. The disagreement reportedly started after Portable criticized VeryDarkMan’s frequent attacks on President Bola Tinubu and his administration. Portable, who has recently been seen showing support for the current government, took offense and fired back with threats, insults, and challenges that caught the attention of both fans and industry stakeholders.

As tensions escalated, show promoters and music executives began to see potential in turning the beef into a money-making boxing match. A reported ₦100 million offer was made to Portable, while another version of the story says entertainment businessman Sosoberekon even proposed ₦120 million to get the brawl in motion. But Portable didn’t blink. Instead, he raised the stakes, saying that only a ₦1 billion deal would make him step into the ring with the fearless critic.

“They want me to fight someone they can’t even touch. You’re scared of him, you can’t jail him, now you want me to fight him for small money? I’m not stupid. If you’re serious, cough up ₦1 billion,” he declared in a mix of pidgin and English, leaving fans both shocked and amused.

VeryDarkMan has not officially responded to the demand, but online reactions have poured in with divided opinions. While some believe Portable is bluffing and just using the drama for attention, others argue that he’s being smart about business. “Portable knows his market value. If he gets hurt or loses, his career takes a hit. If they want premium violence, they should pay premium price,” a fan commented on X (formerly Twitter).

Portable’s insistence on the ₦1 billion figure has now thrown promoters into confusion. Is he pricing himself out to avoid the fight or simply playing the long game to get a better deal? Either way, the buzz around the potential bout has reached fever pitch, and it’s now up to those behind the scenes to decide if they’re willing to meet his billion-naira demand.

Whether the fight ever happens or not, one thing is clear,Portable has once again stolen the spotlight in the most unpredictable way. From music to madness and now to a possible ring war, he continues to redefine celebrity drama in Nigeria, leaving fans glued to their screens and waiting for his next move.
