The hammer finally dropped.
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, inside the packed Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, the Peoples Democratic Party did what many whispered about for years – they expelled Nyesom Wike.
Not just Wike. Former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose, embattled National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and eight others were shown the exit door in one sweeping motion.
Delegates from 17 states watched as party elder Bode George moved the motion. Bauchi governor Bala Mohammed seconded it faster than anyone could blink. The hall erupted in thunderous approval.
The charge sheet was short but brutal: anti-party activities, endless court cases, and openly working against the party in 2023. Everyone knew who the real target was – the man now answering Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike’s sin? Many say it was backing President Tinubu while still wearing PDP colours. Others point to the endless war with Governor Sim Fubara in Rivers State that has torn the party apart.
By 6:28 pm Nigerian time, the official PDP handle posted the bombshell: “Expelled… to restore unity and discipline ahead of 2027.”
Social media exploded. Some called it long overdue justice. Others mocked the party for waking up after the house had already burned.
Fayose, ever loud, has stayed strangely quiet so far. Same with Wike – no statement, no anger, no tears. Just silence that feels louder than any press conference.
The full list of the expelled eleven includes heavyweights like Chief Dan Orbih, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and South-South zonal secretary George Turnah.
Political analysts say this is the clearest sign yet that the PDP is trying to clean house before 2027. Whether the patient survives the surgery is another matter entirely.
One thing is certain, Nigerian politics just served another plate of hot, spicy drama, and everyone is eating with both hands.
