In the sweltering heat of Abuja's Gaduwa District, a spark ignited national fury on November 11, 2025. Navy Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, a poised 1992 Kaduna native, stood unyielding against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike's bulldozer-like advance.
The flashpoint? Plot 1946, a contested swath of earth tied to retired Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo. Yerima's squad guarded it fiercely, blocking Wike's convoy enforcing a demolition order over murky title docs.
Wike, veins bulging, barked, "You're a very big fool!" Yerima's cool retort sliced through: "I am not a fool, sir." The exchange, caught on shaky video, exploded online, painting Yerima as a symbol of spine in a land of bending knees.
Whispers swirled, illegal orders? Power plays? A policeman even murmured in Hausa, urging Yerima to stand down. Yet, the lieutenant held firm, phone in hand, briefing Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede mid-clash.
Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru hailed him: "He has done well. We won't let anything happen." Retired vets rallied, vowing to storm Wike's gates if Yerima faced heat. Even Atiku Abubakar gifted him an SUV, per rumors.
But shadows loomed. Five days later, on November 16, Yerima dodged what sources called an assassination bid, police tailing his ride, ramming it on Gado Nasko Road. He hit the panic button; troops swarmed, suspects scattered.
Through it all, Yerima, an Ahmadu Bello University alum and Special Boat Service vet, stayed stoic. Colleagues call him a "fine gentleman," his Kanuri name meaning "prince" fitting his regal calm.
Then, on November 30, joy broke the storm. In Kaduna's vibrant embrace, Yerima wed in a lush Hausa rite. He glowed in navy blue kaftan, bride veiled in pink silks beside ornate gold chairs.
From Abuja's dust to matrimonial bliss, Yerima's tale whispers: Integrity endures, love triumphs.
