On Friday, December 6, 2025, the dancer filmed herself shaking her backside directly in front of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s bronze grave, calling it a “homage” to the man who made sensuality part of his revolution.
“Baba liked women with moving hips,” she laughed in the video. “So I decided to shake my nyash for Baba.”
Seun Kuti, Fela’s son and keeper of the shrine, stood nearby smiling and reportedly told her, “This is exactly what my father would have loved.”
By Saturday morning, the clip had exploded across Instagram and X, racking up hundreds of thousands of views and a storm of reactions.
Many Nigerians are furious. “A grave is not a club,” one viral comment read. “This is cultural sacrilege dressed as art.”
Others rushed to defend her. “Fela married 27 women at once and danced half-naked on stage,” a supporter fired back. “He would have joined her.”
The dancer herself remains unbothered, posting laughing emojis and writing, “Art is subjective. Fela broke every rule, today I broke one for him.”
As of Sunday morning, no official complaint has come from the Kuti family or the shrine management.
