In a long-awaited video statement, activist Harrison Gwamnishu has finally addressed the explosive accusations leveled against him by social media critic VeryDarkMan and the family of a kidnapped Edo couple.
The controversy stems from the November 22, 2025, abduction of Mr. and Mrs. Segiru in Aviele near Auchi. Gwamnishu helped raise ₦20 million in crowdfunding ransom, which secured the pregnant wife's release, but her husband is still held captive.
Family members claimed Gwamnishu diverted millions, sparking VeryDarkMan's public campaign that led to the activist's brief detention in December 2025.
Fresh out of the saga and recently granted bail, Gwamnishu admitted in his latest response: "I'm not a perfect human."
He apologized for his delayed full statement, explaining he held back to avoid jeopardizing ongoing rescue efforts for the remaining victim.
Gwamnishu firmly denied wrongdoing, highlighting his years of pro bono work fighting kidnappings along Edo-Delta borders.
He dismissed some claims as misunderstandings, including the bizarre "tracking device" explanation from his lawyer about adjusted ransom funds.
While refusing to dive deep into the Edo case specifics yet, for the husband's safety, Gwamnishu invited full investigations by authorities.
The feud has gripped Nigerians, raising tough questions about trust in crowdfunding rescues amid the country's kidnapping crisis.
VeryDarkMan has stayed vocal, mocking explanations and demanding total transparency.
As the new year begins, all eyes remain on whether the captive husband will be freed and if this bitter clash between two prominent voices will escalate further.
