On September 24, 2025, a clip from Carter Efe on one of his livestreams, began circulating, showing the entertainer confidently declaring that he graduated from Babcock University with a “first class upper” in Biochemistry. He even went as far as boasting that he was the best in his set.

The internet wasted no time latching onto the curious choice of words. In Nigeria’s university grading system, students either graduate with First Class Honours or Second Class Upper, but “First Class Upper” doesn’t officially exist. Within hours, users flooded comment sections, mocking the phrase and questioning if Carter Efe had simply mixed up the terms or invented a new category altogether.
Some went further, casting doubt on whether the entertainer ever studied Biochemistry at Babcock University in the first place. Memes rolled out, with fans joking about his new “special” degree classification and teasing that he might have majored in comedy instead of science.

This isn’t the first time Carter Efe has raised eyebrows with the claim. Back in July, he posted something similar online, saying he finished with the same so-called “first class upper,” and that he was his department’s top graduate. The statement was met with the same skepticism, but this time around, the livestream clip made the conversation trend harder, drawing mainstream outlets into the mix.
Interestingly, Babcock University’s grading system is very clear. A CGPA of 4.50 and above earns First Class Honours, while a CGPA between 3.50 and 4.49 is Second Class Upper. Nowhere in the university handbook or any Nigerian university handbook, for that matter exists the classification “first class upper.”
As of now, there’s no independent confirmation that Carter Efe actually graduated from Babcock, let alone with top honours. Neither the school nor its alumni lists have backed up his bold declaration. Still, the entertainer’s confidence and the viral attention prove one thing: whether or not he holds a degree in Biochemistry, he definitely knows how to keep people talking.
In the end, Carter Efe’s “first class upper” saga may never be proven true or false. But in the world of social media gossip, accuracy sometimes matters less than the entertainment value and on that score, Carter has already graduated with distinction.
