She won the hearts of millions and ?150 million on Big Brother Naija Season 10.
But just weeks after her victory, Imisi Ayanwale is at the centre of a painful family storm.
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, a tearful video of Imisi’s biological mother surfaced online and spread like wildfire across TikTok and X.

Dressed in a simple green-and-yellow wrapper, sitting in a modest room, the woman wept openly.
“My daughter hates me,” she repeated, voice cracking. “Since she won that money, she doesn’t want to see me again.”

She told viewers she still lives in poverty, borrowing money even to get her hair done.
Her younger sister in Ajah, Lagos, now clothes and feeds her.
The mother insisted she “ran around” during the show, begging neighbours, church members and friends in Ebute-Metta to vote for Imisi so she could “take me out of this suffering.”
Yet on finale day and prize presentation day, she says she was called only minutes before 4 p.m. and told to “wear something presentable,” leaving her feeling like an afterthought.
Many Nigerians remember Imisi’s heartbreaking story inside the house: Those revelations won her massive sympathy and votes.
Now the same public is split.
Some blast the mother: “You abandoned her, now you want the money?”
Others plead with Imisi: “Forgive your mum, nobody is perfect.”
Hours after the video blew up, Imisi went live on TikTok.
Calm but firm, she said, “I am taking care of my mother.”
She claimed the full story of their relationship is being twisted.
Insiders whisper the champion has sent ?150,000 and ?50,000 at different times, amounts many feel are small compared to her new fortune.
As at Friday night, mother and daughter have not been seen together publicly since the win.
Behind Imisi celebration photos and brand deals, a deep wound from childhood is still bleeding.
And Nigeria can’t look away.
